My name is Simon Pratt, and I have been a practising artist for 25 years. 

I have shown extensively in London and abroad, including Galerie Not, Hampstead; Gallery 47, Bloomsbury; Adison Ross, Sloane Square; Town Hall, Champery, Switzerland; Verden, Pinner. Paintings have been displayed in Coffee Plant in Portobello Road for two years , and Coffee Blend in Turnpike Lane.  I have also had many group shows with the Stanmore Arts Society and the Harrow Arts Society.

I featured in an article in the December 2020 edition of The Oldie magazine concerning my art work and mental health. I also had an article in The Times newspaper on april 7th, 2022. 

I exhibited in the 2021 Royal Academy Summer Exhibition with the painting “Dinosaurs in Eden.” The painting was sold.

I have also had commissions to paint the world bridge champion; Mark Francois MP and the former MP, David Gauke.

About myself: I was a Queen’s Scholar at Westminster School from 1984 to 1988 and took five A levels gaining a grade A in art. I went up to Jesus College, Cambridge, to study mathematics in 1989. In 1990, I suffered a total nervous breakdown and as a result of my actions I lost my left painting arm. Since then I have successfully painted right handed. My art career started upon my recovery.

Artist’s statement: My work is eclectic. Since 1993, I have painted nudes, abstracts, landscapes, portraits, and imaginative pieces. For the last five years, my work has mainly oscillated between the nude, and abstracts. Both genres feed off each other. My main influences are Lucien Freud, Paula Rego, and the Fauve artists. I like to create a setting for my nude studies, often with an abstract motif as background. Animals occasionally appear in my pictures, adding a surreal dimension.  

Through Amazon, I have published four books. The first two are erotic novels: “The Bohemians” and “Life and Consequences”. The third book is a collection of short stories called “The first blonde and other tall tales”

I’ve also written two film scripts.
